The Blue Shadow, 2026
Museum installation film.Barcelona, España, 2025
The Blue Shadow (La sombra azul) is an audiovisual project of a poetic and autobiographical nature that explores the absence and conflict of a broken sibling relationship. Through images of a family home in the midst of moving out, the piece reflects on memory and the emotional void left by absence itself, seeking to document and process this feeling.
Blue, as a recurring symbol throughout the work, is represented as that intangible shadow that persists in the author’s memory.
The project uses the film-essay as its main language, allowing for emotional storytelling built from personal images and manipulated personal archives. The blue stain takes center stage as the visual metaphor for absence, and stop-motion brings this stain to life as though it were erased or distorted memories. Intimate writing is woven in to build the narrative voice that complements the visual aesthetic. Inspired by references from autobiographical cinema and the film essay, the work is conceived as a personal search to understand and confront the silence and emotional distance of a family member. The piece is an open space for the viewer to also construct their own interpretation of absence and memory.
